KMA Teams
The KMA Community Team (KMA-CT) meets on the second Thursday of each month at 11:30 at various locations within the counties. The KMA-CT is a group of professionals that meets confidentially to staff families that are involved or may be involved with the KMA. The intent is to brainstorm ideas to help families get the services they need and to find creative ways to combine funding to provide the needed services.
The KMA Advisory Team (KMA-AT) meets quarterly to advise the KMA on policy, grant writing, and other business. The goal of this committee is to be composed of 51% parents and youth who have been through the mental health system. The team provides leadership, sanction, and governance in the community and the design, implementation and support of a community based system of care for high-risk children with serious emotional disturbance. The goals of the KMA-AT are:
- To design, implement, and support a community-based system of care for youth and families;
- To integrate wrap-around philosophy into service delivery;
- To reduce the stigma surrounding serious emotional disturbances for individuals and their families; and
- To partner with the state to provide information on the system’s needs and development, participate in policy development, and educate legislators on the needs of youth with serious emotional disturbances and the impact on their families.
The KMA Referral Team (RT) is comprised of three KMA-CT members: one from Fort Belknap, one from Rocky Boy, and one from another community such as Chinook or Havre. The role of the (RT) is to determine if families are eligible for care coordination and set a waiting list based on greatest need if necessary. The RT meets immediately following the KMA-CT meeting to review referrals and no identifying information is shared with the team. Decisions are based solely on age, diagnosis, placement, behavioral issues, and agency involvement.
The Individual Care Coordination Team (ICCT), in partnership with the families and youth, designs and implements individual unified plans of care for specific youth and families . ICCT members will be determined based on the services needed and by the requests of the families involved.
