"Hand in Hand, Keeping Hill County Healthy"

Child Care

Our goal is to improve the quality of out-of-home child care. Research has shown that young children need the presence of consistent, caring adults in their lives to thrive. However, economic necessities have forced an ever-increasing number of parents into the paid work force and children are increasingly cared for in out-of-home settings.

Quality child care and out-of-school-time care is more than just helping parents who are in the workforce. It contributes significantly to the child’s brain development and overall success in life. Children in high quality early child care and education programs are more likely to be emotionally secure and self-confident, to be proficient in language use, to be able to regulate impulsive and aggressive inclinations, and to be advance in cognitive development.

Our Child Care Health Consultant works to assist child care facilities in maintaining a healthy environment. Every child care facility within Havre city limits is visited on a two year rotation. During these visits the following information is assessed/reviewed:

  • Children’s immunization records,
  • Injury prevention needs of children,
  • Disease reporting requirements,
  • And oral health for children.

We work closely with the local District IV Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) Child Care Link.
