HIV Testing and Counseling
There
are many reasons to have an HIV test. HIV counseling & testing is an
important part of good health care, The only way to know if you have
HIV is to be tested. It is now possible to have an HIV test and
receive your results the same day.
Free Anonymous Counseling & Testing is available for HIV antibody testing at Hill County Health Department. HIV testing is available:
Monday and Wednesday from 1:00 to 4:00 and Friday from 8:00 to 4:00 at the Hill County Health Department.
No appointment is needed and the testing is anonymous. For further information, call 265-54814 x266.
You will be given an information sheet to read and sign before the test is done. You have the right to withdraw from the test at anytime before the test is done. If you are not given an information sheet, please ask for one.
When you present for an HIV test, just inform the front desk that you are there for confidential testing. Your name will not be taken and a counselor will confidentially meet with you.
Partner Notification
If your test is positive, sex and needle sharing partner(s) need to be notified and given the opportunity to receive counseling and testing. This is a very sensitive task. Public health personnel can either tell your partner(s) or help you determine how best to tell your partner(s). By law, public health personnel cannot tell your partner(s) the time or place of possible infection or your identity
